Minitad-
Director - Nicole Henry Blastball Schedule
2008 PDF Mini Tad Report
It was another great season
for Mini-tad! A thank-you goes out to all of our coaches and parent volunteers
who made the season a success, and of course to the kids who played and
committed themselves to the sport of baseball. I have heard feedback from
various parents about many of the coaches this year. This feedback included
how impressed the patents were about the dedication of the coaches and
the opportunities that they provided for their child to learn the fundamentals
of ball. I hope that these coaches will continue to dedicate themselves
not only to future teams of Vernon and District Minor Baseball, but also
to the greater passion that they instill in the kids to continue to play
and love the sport of baseball.
Tentative schedule - Tues/Thurs @ Bearisto/Mission Hill/Okanagan Landing schools. Mini-Tads are the youngest group starting baseball and as such, we will encourage all of the children to have a fun time learning the basics of baseball. The basics would include which way to run the bases and learning how to hit and catch the baseball. The children playing t-ball for the first time will be playing 'Blast Ball" which is a fun way for the little ones to learn. The children who have played before will be playing a simplified version of baseball. We are looking for someone to run the "Blast Ball" section, if you can fill this position. T-BALL: This format
is designed to get young people interested in the game of baseball by
stressing and maintaining active participation of all the players with
mandatory and free substitutions in each inning and emphasis placed on
teaching the fundamentals of baseball. The ball is hit from a batting
tee and the base paths are 50 feet in length. It is recommended that a
soft resilient ball is to be used for play in this division. It is further
recommended that a minimum of one coach, and a maximum of 2 coaches (while
his or her team is playing on defense) be on the playing field to provide
guidance and training to their team in the fundamentals of baseball. Regulation
games shall be a maximum of 6 innings and a minimum of 4 innings. Other
guidelines for T-Ball play may be found in Rule 19. Blastball Coaches List
