Midget Division
Midget Division The Vernon Midget's had one team, comprising of 15 players,
competing in a 10 team loop from Kamloops to Penticton. We ended league
play in 3rd place with a .623 winning percentage and finished 2nd in the
league playoff tournament. We've made some great strides in this division,
going from no team 2 years ago, to getting a team together last year where
we managed only a couple of wins, to the championship final this year.
I would like to sincerely thank the other coaches who helped so much this
year. Mark Longworth, Derek Pecyna, and Johnny Kashuba all contributed
a great deal to our success. Without them there would not have been a
team. As this was my last year of direct involvement with VDBA I would
like to take this opportunity to thank all the players, coaches, executive
members, and parents I've gotten to know. I've made many great friendships
over the years and especially enjoyed the time on the Diamond helping
the players learn and enjoy the great game of Baseball. Thanks for the
memories and good luck to all in the future.

Hi all and welcome to the 2008 baseball season. We had one team of 22
players last year and I'd like to see us increase our numbers so we can
have 2 teams registered to play in 2008. Please register early so I can
determine whether we will have one or two teams in the league. We will
also have to order a second set of uniforms. We are allowed overage players
( by one year only ) for those of you that are still interested in playing
one more year, but you will not be allowed to pitch. PARENTS - WE NEED
COACHES! Because I now work in Salmon Arm I'm unable to make a full commitment
and cannot guarantee I'll be at the Ball Park on time. It's simple....no
coaches, no teams. It's a lot of fun being around these young adults so
please volunteer and help out.

MIDGET : The playing field for this division is a regulation baseball
field with 90 foot base paths and 60 feet 6 inches distance from the rubber
to home plate. The recommended dimensions for the outfield fence are 320
to 400 feet. With some minor exceptions for substitutions, teams at this
level play according to the regular rules of baseball. A pitcher may pitch
a maximum of seven innings plus one, in the event of a tie game, in a
calendar day and fourteen innings in a calendar week. A regulation game
is 7 innings and Rule 14 applies for early termination. Guidelines for
play in the Midget Division are found in Rule 23.
Midget update for 2008
The Midgets have begun practicing every Monday and Thursday at Marshall
field. These practices will continue throughout the month of April. We
will include Saturday practices as well and will communicate the dates
when they are confirmed. The league schedule is currently being prepared
and will be posted as soon as it is finished.
