2008 Year End
PeeWee Report Pee Wee Division - Location: Creekside Park This will be my second year as Pee Wee Director. After a
steep learning curve last season, I'm hoping to improve on a number of
things this year. With a record number of kids in Pee Wee and in the other
divisions, there was a bit of confusion with regards to team placement,
coaches and uniforms. Getting your registration in sooner rather than
later, really helps us to get organized for the season. I would like to have coaches lined up a little earlier and get the season going a bit sooner this year. Anyone who is interested in coaching, please contact me as soon as possible. The idea of fielding a "traveling team" is something I would like to discuss this year - this would be a competitive team that would require an extra commitment from parents and players. These kids would still play on house teams but would have extra practices with a separate coach and would travel to tournaments. This would provide for a nice transition into summer ball. I would like every team to have a manager this year. This person would act as a liason between myself and the coach as well as team players and parents. If you are interested in this position, please indicate on the registration form or contact me.I found communicating by email to be effective and will continue to do so this year - please include this in your registration. You can contact me with any suggestions or questions. I
look forward to another great ball season. PEE WEE: Lead offs are permitted and balks may be called against the pitcher in the Pee Wee division. A pitcher may pitch in a maximum of 7 innings in a calendar day and 10 innings in a calendar week. Shoes with metal cleats are not permitted in this division. The base paths are 70 feet and the distance between the pitching rubber and home plate is 48 feet. The recommended dimensions for the outfield fence are 225 to 250 feet. The pitching mound is raised by a gradual slope to a height of 6 inches above the level of the base paths. A regulation game is 7 innings and Rule 14 applies for early termination. Other guidelines for play in the Pee Wee Division are found in Rule 21. PEE WEE UPDATE |
