Tadpole Director Report

Tadpole Director Report At the beginning of the year I had one goal for myself and the kids, it was to have fun and make new friends. This season was a great success. There was an increase in enrollment from 96 to 110 kids. This meant we needed coaches! With a few phone calls I was able to field 10 teams. The kids all got new sliding pants and were taught the basics of baseball by a group of the most enthusiastic coaches I ever met (Great Job!).

The Monday night practices gave us time to hone our skills so we could impress all who attended the Friday night games at Lakeview Park. This years wrap up party was a huge success thanks to all of the parents who supplied food, raffle gifts, and their time. Summer ball "All Stars" had 20 kids try out and 18 were able to commit to 3 out of 5 tournaments in the schedule.

We had 9 coaches put a huge effort into making this year a great experience for us all. We traveled to Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Rutland and Kelowna. In July we hosted our own tournament at Lakview Park. I would just like to thank all of the parents for the extra commitment that they gave this year. Myself and all of the kids sure appreciated the extra help.

Carl Vardon,
Tadpole Director

Tadpole Division - Tentative schedule - Mon/Wed/Fri @ Silver Star & Bearisto school.

Baseball has always been about having fun and making friends. My name is Carl Vardon. I have coached my son's teams for the past four years and look forward to the 2008 season. Parents should get an early start throwing and catching with their kids. Hitting, fielding and base running with the addition of sliding will be our focus at the start of the season. Catchers and pitchers will learn their rolls as the season progresses.

The pitching machines and tees will give us a great start in building their confidence at bat. Three strikes and three out baseball will keep everyone having fun. I believe with hard work and parent participation we can build teams that are equally matched and are able to advance to the next level of play. Practices, games and tournaments could not run without great volunteers! It is very important to have several coaches and team managers. So, step up, don't be shy and help out, even if it's only for a game. I started this way and I love it! Nothing is better than spending time with your kids, rain or shine and having fun!

Required Equipment: glove, athletic support, cleats and batting helmet.
Supplied Equipment: Shirt and pants.

TADPOLE : The base paths are 50 feet and although Rule 19 suggests that a batting tee may be used in this division, many local associations use pitching machines or coach-pitch formats. Lead offs are not permitted and a regulation game is 7 innings. The recommended outfield fence dimension is 200 feet. Other guidelines for Tadpole play may be found in Rule 19.
